God is all you need

“God is enough.” – Hannah Whitall Smith

He is in Us All

God not only is Creator of all, He is in us all. The Apostle John reassures us that, “you are from God and have overcome them, for he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world” (1st John 4:4). John wrote this so that they would not be troubled in heart. What many of the first century Christians discovered, even after losing all that they had, was if God is all they had, God is all they need. When you have nothing left but Christ, you have all you need in Christ.

He Provides All

When you have trusted in Christ, you already have all you need, even if it means lean times in this life. Even so, King David reminds us of God’s provisions for His own children, and wrote, “I have been young, and now am old, yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken or his children begging for bread” (Psalm 37:25). Since God feeds the birds of the air, and we are of far more value to Him than they are (Matt 6:26), why can’t we trust Him to take care of our needs?

He Gives All

Jesus came into the world to give His life as a ransom for many (Mark 10:45). What more can anyone give than that? I don’t see people waiting in line to give their life as a ransom for others. In some cases, a man or woman might die for their family members or friends, but Jesus died for us while we were still wicked, evil sinners, who were once enemies of God (Rom 5:6-10). I can imagine dying for a family member or friend, but an enemy of mine? That’s what Jesus did.

Conclusion

If you have been born again, God is in you, and you have all you need in your relationship with Jesus Christ. You can rest in the fact that God owns everything and will take care of your needs, no matter what it looks like at the time. And, He gave more than we could ever give, so if all you have left is Christ, you have all you need. Amen?
