"Sharper than a two-edged Sword!"
The power of God’s Word is not dependent upon my applying it! Nor does the reality and omnipotence of the Creator depend on my believing in It, or Him! If I submissively throw myself upon the Word of God, it will break me; but if I refuse and wait until it falls on me, I will be crushed to powder! Similarly, a man will die of dehydration, lying next to a well and dipper, if he fails to draw and drink. So again, “the power of God’s Word is not dependent upon my applying it,” but the benefits are!
Many “believe” in Christ, claim promises from the Bible and even attend and serve at their church. But if they’re not drawing and drinking of the Well of Salvation, they will one day find that their empty mental ascent had no bearing whatsoever on whether they Knew Christ the LORD! Jesus, Himself, used the scenario of those who, on that Day, claimed their love, labor, and accolades for Him, but He sent them into darkness saying, “I never knew you!”
The Word of God is most powerful, but like any mighty weapon, if not used correctly, and for its intended purpose, it can be lethal to its bearer! Hebrews compares It to a sharp sword, a sword that should be used for cutting away the things in our life that are not Christ-like. Many have found Its God-breathed statutes and laws effective at acquiring and gaining worldly influence, riches, and authority. Those unfortunately, without finding repentance, will one day give account to the Eternal Bearer of that Word!
John said that Jesus, Messiah Himself, IS the Word made flesh! What an unimaginably magnificent asset when received in the Holy Spirit! By recognizing the promised Gift of the Holy Spirit and accepting the Divine Word, we can be accepted by, and once again, know fellowship with our Creator! This is why Jesus came! This is the Gospel of Jesus Christ!
